Year 7 Netball Rodney @ Hibiscus Coast Netball Centre
Another early sunday for the babys of rodney reps but as usual they were all full of energy and ready for a big day of netball.
The day was full of many pleasing suprises and very tough games.
First game of the day was against Nothern Wairoa, and it was a slow start for the girls. With a bit of waking up from the coach the girls went back out to claw back 7 goals. We ended going down 10-9.
Next up we had the champions of the day North Harbour . Although going down 21-4 the girls displayed some awesome netball skills and plays. A highlight for this game was when Little Alana Santos caused a turnover and ripped the ball out of the oppositions hand who was a good foot taller than her.
The last few games of the day was great experience for the girls as they had to stand their ground against the far north teams. Apart from a few bumps and bruises the girls did very well and have come such a long way together as a team.

Under 15's Rep. Report - Netball North Field Day - Whangarei
The U15's had a big day with four close games through out the day.. Although none of the games were won the score were very close. Each player is starting to show great improvements in their performance as each game is played, extending their knowledge of the game and growing confidence in themselves.

Under 17's Rep. Report - Netball North Field Day - Whangarei
The Rodney u/17 team played exceptionally well, with all players making huge progress throughout the day. Everyone worked really hard and we were rewarded with a 18-17 win over Northern Wairoa, unfortunately Northern Wairoa had beaten HBC which meant we ended up not having a playoff game.
We were in a very tuff pool with the North Origin team and North Harbour (as well as Northern Wairoa and HBC), the team may have lost by considerable margins in these games but really made the opposition work hard for every goal. Well done girls very proud of you all.
Of special note was Melissa McCabe captaining the North origin team and Elaina Moulds also playing for the North team and being rewarded for a great days play by receiving a Talent Identification Certificate and is a reserve for the NZTD programme.
Thanks

Year 8 Report - June 20th, Netball North Harbour
Our Year 8 girls faced some incredibly well drilled and talented players last Sunday at Netball North Harbour. Playing Year 8 teams from Eastern Waikato, Pukekohe, and Waitakere, we saw some amazing talent, and girls who played with a great dedication and understanding of the game. It was quite inspiring to watch.
Unfortunately we didn't come away with any wins, however I am very proud of the tenacity and positive attitude of our team as they stood up against such stiff competition game after game.
After two tournaments, we are ready to set ourselves some new goals for the rest of the season, and work toward steadily improving our skills week by week. We can do it!

Year 7 Rep Report - June 20th, Netball North Harbour
The year 7s had 3 exciting and challenging games this weekend. Unfortunately they placed second in all games that they played. As a team they have improved so much in the last week. It was great to see the girls take on board what they had learnt at training.
So bring on the next tournament and hopefully we will place 1st.
Thanks to Tai for umpiring our games.

Year 8 Rep Report - June 13th Auckland Netball Centre
The Year 8 team had an enjoyable start to their 2010 rep season. Winning our first game against Te Raki Paewhenua (North Harbour Maori) 18 - 9 was a great way to get our confidence up and know that we were capable of holding our own in our tournament section. Unfortunately that was to be our only win of the day! However the three losses that followed gave us plenty of lessons as to what areas of our game we need to improve upon, and I am looking forward to training on Saturday, and then another tournament on Sunday to put those skills onto the court. Our Year 8 girls should be very proud of their attitude and appearance on the day - you represented Rodney well, and I am really excited about spending the rest of the season working with you!

U17's Rep Report - June 13th Auckland Netball Centre
The team of 8 u/17 players had a very fine first up tournament. Working hard together to get good combinations and ball retention was the aim of the day. The competition was a little different to other tournaments in that it was played in three x 10 minutes for a game. This was actually really good for a first tournament as it gave the players more court time and opportunity for coaches to tweek combinations.
Rodney V Howick Pakuranga loss 23-14 (1/3rds scores H.P 8-5, 9-6, 6-3)
Rodney V Paeroa loss 18 - 12 (1/3rd scores) Paeroa 9-3, 5-7, Rodney 4-3)
Rodney V Te Rakai Paewhenua win 28-17 (1/3rd scores Rodney 9-6, 10-6, 9-5)
All players gained a great deal of confidence in each other and it was awesome to see a real desire by everyone to do well.
Thanks Nikola for Managing for us!
It was also great to catch up and watch a number of the North rep teams, particularly Melissa McCabe playing for the North u/17 team and getting court time.
The weather was hideous and made playing conditions treacherous at times with players slipping and falling, luckily for us only one Graze and slight ankle twinge (touch wood).
Cheers
Mads

Hopefully this blog will be used to post stories and features from our netball centre that are just a little too long to be posted on the front page of own website and on our facebook page. Please feel free to comment on any stories or features added.
Hopefully we'll have some reports from the first Rep Tournament of the season that we are competing in - reports from both the players and the coaches/managers points of view.
